Albany Update
February 10, 2006

BRUNO AND BLOOMBERG:
An unexpected verbal clash between Senator Bruno and Mayor Bloomberg has complicated the budget process and put more political pressure on Senate Republicans. Bloomberg aides leaked that the Mayor may support Democratic City Council member Joe Addabbo over Republican Serphin Maltese. Senator Maltese , Queens County Republican chairman, opposed Mayor Bloomberg’s re-election bid. With the leak, the Mayor has made clear to the state Senate Republicans that he is not happy with the city’s share of education funding. The level of funding and the Senate’s response to the CFE ruling could have a major impact on who the Mayor endorses this fall.
