Albany Update Volume 5 - August 8, 2005
2005 Legislative Session Summary
14,977 bills were introduced into the NYS Legislature (Assembly and Senate)
1,607 passed the Senate
1,628 passed the Assembly
274 passed both houses and have not yet been delivered to Governor
606 bills have been sent to Governor
154 are currently in Governor’s office
408 bills have been signed by Governor and chaptered
46 bills have been vetoed The cause of the discrepancy between the number delivered to the Governor and those chaptered and vetoed is that two bills (A550 – Chapter 50) and (S3669 – Chapter 59) were signed, but also contained line items vetoes, so they fall in both categories.
Bolton-St. Johns is tracking 1,980 bills
Of these tracked bills 121 passed both houses
Of these tracked bills that passed both houses, 43 have not yet been sent to the Governor
Of those tracked bills that passed both houses, 52 have been signed by the Governor
Of those tracked bills that passed both houses, 10 have been vetoed
It is important to note that in some cases Bolton-St. Johns works for passage, and in others for vetoes of tracked legislation. These numbers reflect only bills being watched on the state level, not for New York City.
